If you’ve been to Ischia, there’s no way you could have missed it: the Aragonese Castle, a turreted little islet rising from the sea at Ischia Ponte.
You’ve admired it from afar—now it’s time to explore it up close. Head to Ischia Ponte, the eastern district of the town of Ischia. At the end of its charming historic center, you’ll find an ancient stone bridge that leads you straight to the foot of the Castle. There’s a small entrance fee, but it’s worth every penny to step into a fortified village from centuries past—a proud symbol of the island from the early Middle Ages through the 18th century.
Wander through frescoes, peaceful gardens, and vegetable plots, all while taking in breathtaking views that will leave you speechless—and fill your camera roll. Two excellent cafés within the Castle grounds offer a perfect break between stops. Don’t forget, this is also a major cultural venue, hosting prestigious art exhibitions, film festivals, and theatrical performances throughout the year.
